Introduction to the Insulation Industry
Industrial Insulation is a thermal material used for high and cold temperature pipes and equipment, most commonly used in petrochemical, oil refinery, power plant, paper mill, and similar types of manufacturing. In this lesson, we will be discussing all about it, benefits and other things most insulators aren’t aware of.
Lesson 1: Basic Safety
Safety is every person’s main priority at all times. We can achieve this goal by practicing daily routine and being our brother keeper. Refineries have procedure in place for every contractor/Sub-contractor before entry or beginning any work. Here are a few topics to help you further understand safety in the plant.
Lesson 2: Tools & Material
Mechanical Insulators use various hand tools, and rotating manual machinery on a daily basis. We must learn the purpose of each to prevent any accident. Having the right tool is important because it will determine the quality and production of the task.
Lesson 3: Trade Math
Math skills are highly important to have a clear understanding of how everything works, when to order materials, fabricate and install them. In order to have an accurate calculation, we must know when, why and what Math process we need to use.
Lesson 4: Pipe Insulation
Insulators must understand the different types of pipe or size to order the correct material for installment. Most pipes are labeled with ink or tags. Nominal pipe size (NPS) is the North america standard for measuring pipe sizes and used for various pressures and temperatures. We’ll learn more about them in this lesson.
Lesson 5: Insulation Installation
Math skills are highly important to have a clear understanding of how everything works, when to order materials, fabricate and install them. In order to have an accurate calculation, we must know when, why and what Math process we need to use.
